<p>Bataillou is situated in the heart of the French Natural Regional Périgord-Limousin.
It is a rural village renovated in the pure Limousin style and surrounded by
lakes and beautiful nature. The 50 hectares domain of fields and forests is
freely accessible and offers the chance to enjoy long walks, to go fishing and
mushroom picking. The fully renovated farm houses are of high quality modern
comfort in a rustic atmosphere. The terraces and gardens offer peace and quiet.

Go fishing on the two lakes of Bataillou (2,5 and 1 hectares).
You will find peace and serenity.

The excursions
Discover the story of King Richard the Lion Heart by following the historic road by foot, on horse back or on mountain bike.
From Bataillou enjoy many different walks (from 4 to 12 km). For example go and see the majestic plane trees of Peyrassoulat which are more than 250 years old.
The historic sites
In the west of the Limousin Region, on the border of the Charente and the Dordogne Regions, the Richard the Lion Heart Road is a historic road where you will find numerous castles some of which are open to the public and are particularly interesting for their architecture and history.
Most them built in the 11th century, these castles have been the witnesses of endless wars between the Dukes of Aquitaine (which then became England's kings) and the French kings.
From castle to castle, just enjoy the charming scenery of the Limousin countryside, full of chestnut trees, swarming with brooks and brimming with lakes.
Next to the Bataillou village, the castle of Montbrun and the church of the Salles Lavauguyon are one of the sites you can visit on this Road.
